Workshop for ECE: Connect and Communicate...Start today!
Before they can talk, babies communicate through facial expressions, body language and gestures. Sign Language taps into babies' and toddlers natural ability to communicate with their bodies. When signs and words are used together, auditory learners hear the word, visual learners see the sign and kinesthetic learners can use their hands to make the sign. Signing creates the perfect storm that can trigger a surge in language leaning and cognitive development.
ECE's can utilize Sign Language as a reliable tool for classroom management. Signing will help reduce frustration, tantrums, assist with communicating needs more effectively and enjoy a more cohesive environment overall. This workshop will give you the tools necessary to immediately implement American Sign Language (ASL) vocabulary into your early childhood setting. Participants will earn tips for using sign language and signs related to popular themes such as pets, colours, family and the alphabet. Instruction will be delivered through hands on practice using a variety of popular nursery rhymes, songs, baby bounces and fingerplays all using ASL!
